The IMO's Scientific Group of the London Convention on Ocean Dumping was concerned about Planktos' for-profit iron dump. After its meeting, having been urged by FoE activists to take measures to stop Planktos, the Scientific Group indicated it would like to see formal restrictions on such dumping adopted at the November meeting of the full convention. Suing the EPA to Stop Cruise Ship Pollution

Find out moreFriends of the Earth filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency seeking an immediate response to a seven-year-old cruise ship pollution petition submitted in March of 2000. The petition asked the EPA to assess and regulate pollution from cruise ships. The agency has still not responded.
