• We helped convince the Senate to block the nomination of the anti-environmental
and energy industry favorite William Myers to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
• We achieved a state ban on biopharmaceutical rice when staff experts exposed the environmental and health threats of bioengineered pharmaceuticals in rice crops in Southern California.

Road to Ruin: The 27 Most Wasteful Road Projects

Road to Ruin documents 27 road projects that will drain federal tax dollars, and harm communities and damage the natural environment. In total, these projects would cost federal taxpayers at least $24 billion.

Five federally funded programs that waste more than $4 billion in taxpayer dollars and harm the environment are targets for elimination by an environmental and taxpayer coalition.

In response to Maryland’s current budget deficit, 20 public interest groups released “Greening the Budget: 11 Ideas for Protecting the Environment and Easing Maryland’s Fiscal Crisis,” a report detailing how the state could realize over $144 million in savings this year while still protecting critical environmental protection programs.
